'On Motherhood'

In honour of Mother's Day this week, we wanted to shine a light on the ever-evolving journey of motherhood, captured through the lens of photographers in the wonderful and inspiring community that surrounds us.

From pregnancy to postpartum and beyond, 'On Motherhood' holds space for the profound and deeply personal moments that define parenthood — the joys, the challenges, and everything in between.

In 'On Motherhood', each photographer captures their own journey—whether as a mother or someone shaped by one. Every story is personal, every perspective unique, but one thing connects us all: the profound impact of motherhood in all its forms.

We know that Mother’s Day can be a tender and complex time for many in our community. If this day feels difficult for you, please know you’re not alone. By sharing these stories, we hope to build a community rooted in support, understanding, and connection — because no one should have to navigate their journey alone.

"Motherhood for me has been a constant stream of highs and lows, a consistent has been the treasured friendships and mutual support from the women in my life and I'm so lucky to be able to say that. In so many ways the friendships I have and the women who make them, they've become the loves of my life. Happy Mother's Day! Warmly, Polly x"

"Motherhood, for me, is a journey of constant learning and self-discovery, both about myself and my child. It’s an experience unlike any other. Every so often, we have adventure days where Zoe takes the lead—deciding what we do, what we play, and who plays which role. Seeing the world through her eyes is one of my greatest joys. It reconnects me with my inner child, allowing me to play, be silly, and embrace curiosity freely. Zoe’s passion for life is contagious, and her laughter never fails to make my heart skip a beat. "Being a mother and a freelance photographer has been a wild ride so far, so much juggling, so many mixed emotions. Losing my identity as I knew it, slowly re-shaping a new one, learning to adapt and balance all the things modern life presents. Life is crazy, but it is full of love."

"I love the saying that when a child is born…so is the Mother. Those early months of Motherhood cracked me open and then over time healed me back to a different version of myself. Nothing brings me more happiness than seeing the world through my son’s. He keeps me living in the moment with him in his world and watching him grow and learn everyday is something I will look back on and will cherish these memories forever."

"My mother has taught me so many things. How to sew my own clothes, to knit warm things, to nurture hope in the garden, and photography, the thing I have made my profession and that brings me so much joy and freedom. But most importantly she has taught me to be curious, shown me the power of sharing skills and how to nourish. In all these quiet moments together she empowers me and I am ever so grateful."

"My 'Creative Mothers' series showcases women who work for themselves in the creative field and Dayami being a model and reinventing herself for different brands and stories this line of creativity fits well into the project. Also becoming a mother it's interesting to see how that influenced Dayami in her career…

I’m a creative, a model and now—officially—a mom, celebrating her first Mother's Day. Motherhood is beautiful, messy, nothing and everything like I expected. It’s learning to function on less sleep than ever, finding strength I didn’t know I had, and realising my heart now lives outside my body. It’s the deepest love, the hardest job, and the most incredible gift—all at once.

To all the moms out there, whether you’re in the thick of it, just starting, or have been doing this for years—you’re amazing. We’re all figuring it out as we go, and that’s more than enough.“
