'In conversation with' - Sarah Bell, founder of Evermore

To celebrate the launch of Reset dropping on Sunday 26th October – our first-ever homeware piece and collaborative candle with Evermore – we sat down with the brand’s founder, Sarah Bell, to talk about all things scent, mindful living and building a business with purpose.

Like Beyond Nine, Evermore is proudly female-founded, focusing on thoughtful design and creating products that can be used in everyday life. Sarah shares her journey, what inspires her work and how she resets after a long day.

Hi Sarah, let’s start from the beginning! What inspired you to start Evermore and why did you decide to create candles?

Evermore really began as a creative escape. I’d been looking for something hands-on, something that felt a little  bit slower than my career at the time. I started experimenting with candle-making at home, melting wax in my kitchen and testing scents late at night. Over time, I realised it combined everything I valued: nature, design, storytelling, and self-care.

Evermore feels rooted in intention, everything from the scent profiles to the sustainability choices feels considered. What values did you build the brand on from day one?

Evermore turns ten this year, which feels quite special, especially when I think back to when it all started. At that time, sustainability wasn’t the focus it is now. The bigger luxury brands weren’t talking about natural wax, toxin-free oils or vegan-friendly ingredients, it just wasn’t part of the conversation. I wanted to create something different: a candle brand that felt elevated and design-led, but also mindfully made and honest.

My goal was to make Evermore the first UK brand to truly bridge sustainability and luxury, proving that you don’t have to compromise one for the other. I’m really proud that we went on to become the first candle brand globally to be stocked on NET-A-PORTER’s NET SUSTAIN platform. It felt like validation of what we’d been doing quietly for years.

The Reset candle marks Beyond Nine’s first-ever homeware piece. What excited you about this collaboration?

I lived in Beyond Nine throughout both my pregnancies and still wear those pieces today. The clothes are so comfortable and beautifully made. As a mum of two, comfort has become even more important to me, so this collaboration felt really natural. Both brands share that same ethos of slowing down and finding time for yourself. Bringing that to life through scent felt like a perfect match.

The scent of the Reset candle is very unique – fresh, grounding, and calming. Can you tell us a bit about how it came to life, and what inspired the blend of citrus, clove and moss?

We wanted the scent to feel like a deep breath, clean and bright at first, but with warmth underneath. The citrus brings that clarity and freshness; the clove adds a gentle spice; and the moss ties it all together with an earthy calmness. It’s a scent that feels alive but soothing.

Sarah wears the Nova jersey top in bone, Mabel linen trousers in black and harlequin sunset cotton neckerchief.

As the founder of Evermore Candles and a mum, how do you juggle the demands of running a business with family life? What strategies or routines help you stay grounded?

It’s definitely a balancing act! I’ve learned to be OK with things not always being perfectly in sync. Some weeks are more about the business; others are about family, and that’s fine. I try to keep clear boundaries where I can, and I make sure I carve out time to switch off properly.

Evermore, like Beyond Nine, is proudly female-founded. How has that shaped your journey and your perspective on building a brand with purpose?

Being a female founder means you often wear a lot of hats, but it also means you build things from a place of empathy and connection. I’ve met so many incredible women along the way who’ve both supported and inspired me. It’s shown me that building a purposeful brand isn’t just about the product; it’s about the community that forms around it.

We love how both Evermore and Beyond Nine aim to create moments of calm and comfort within the go-go-go of everyday life. What’s one small ritual or habit you return to when things feel full-on?

Lighting a candle, always. It’s such a simple act, but it signals that it’s time to slow down. I also love going for walks, even just ten minutes outside can reset everything. Fresh air and movement help me clear my head and come back to work and my family feeling calmer.

Lastly, is there a scent that always brings you back to yourself?

Definitely MOON. It was one of the first scents I created and it still feels special to me. There’s something about the blend of rose, saffron, and smoky cade that feels grounding and familiar. I worked really hard on creating this scent and it reminds me why I started Evermore in the first place - to create moments of calm and comfort amongst the rush of everyday life.
