Life Beyond February '26

As we edge closer to spring, I’m leaning into these in-between moments, savouring the slower winter rituals while welcoming the shift in season that’s just around the corner. From comforting lunches and small home updates to layering pieces that work hard now and later, it’s all about finding joy in the everyday. Not long now, Beyond Niners, spring is almost here!

NEW FAVOURITES

There are two standout pieces for me from February which are our two new trouser shapes. One is the Codi trouser, which is a balloon-leg style with an adjustable cuff that you can cinch in. I just love the little bows you can tie on the outside leg. I’ve got my eye on that in the olive which I think is really versatile – you could wear it with desert boots, loafers, or trainers. Come summer, it would look super cute with sandals.

The other is the Mathilde jeans. Their dramatic, wide-leg, curved shape makes them really stand out. They’re very wearable but still feel special, and I think they’ll become a staple in any wardrobe.

LOW-EFFORT LUNCH

We had friends and family over recently, and we cooked a really delicious, low effort lunch. We made a roast lamb using a 2.5 kg shoulder or leg of lamb, made small holes and stuffed them with parcels made from anchovy, garlic, and thyme, then slow-roasted it with a bit of red wine at 170 degrees for 4-5 hours… it melts beautifully. We served it with roast potatoes and a fresh green salad with Caesar dressing, plus Jamie Oliver’s salsa verde that’s really punchy. Oh, and a classic apple crumble for dessert. It’s low-effort but impressive, and everyone loved it.

ON MY RADAR

There’s some newly released wallpaper from the Common Room that I love. I already have the Solstice print in spring green in the downstairs toilet but I’ve got my eye on these beautiful archival prints from a Japanese artist, Furuya Kōrin, particularly the Sukua. The wallpaper has a mix of contemporary and archival designs. I’ve been drawn to bold colours and patterns, especially in small spaces – wallpaper is expensive but if you’re decorating a small space I think it can really pack a punch and feel impactful.

ON THE WISHLIST

In March, we have some really striking silhouettes and colourways returning. I’m particularly excited about our cotton pieces coming back, like the Tyler Vest and our new Knitted T-shirt, made in chunky, soft cotton with a beautiful sleeve detail.

We also have a new nautical-inspired shirt called Rowan in seersucker narrow stripe. It nods to classic sailor shirts but with a modern, wearable collar. A lot of us want to get our hands on it in the office, so I predict it will sell out quickly.

And then we’re releasing our first in-house leopard print. I’m quite fussy when it comes to leopard print so we’ve worked for a long, long time to perfect this print, and I think it’s timeless in a beautiful colourway. I’d love a pair of the leopard Reba jeans – they have a narrow, barrel-leg shape with side pockets - they’re a bit longer than some of our other styles – and I’d pair them with the black Sylvia sailor tunic. The combination is versatile for layering now and you can wear the Sylvia alone with bare legs in summer.

ON THE HORIZON

There’s a lot of colour and newness coming to Beyond Nine, with exciting new shapes and fabrics. We’re introducing seersuckers and poplins for the first time, alongside our core linen. There will be more skirts, dresses, and jackets, all with vibrant colourways and playful silhouettes. We’re excited to see how people style them!

There’s so much to look forward to over the coming weeks at Beyond Nine, and I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with you. Until then, here’s to brighter mornings, embracing the change of season and making the most of our days, whatever the weather.

READING RIGHT NOW

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy - such a gripping, deeply moving, devastating book. Fell in love with the Salt family and Rowan, the woman washed up on their shores. Part nature writing, part thriller, darkly apocalyptic but the depth of a father’s love is what shines through it all. Go and buy it immediately. Thanks to my friend Lisa for the recommendation!

GO-TO PIECE RIGHT NOW

I wear the Lila a lot, especially because the heating in our office is unpredictable. It’s great for layering under knitwear or shirts, and you can easily remove layers to adapt to the ever-changing weather (or temperamental office). It’s made from soft, luxurious cotton, and it washes beautifully. I have it in the classic colours but also like wearing the bright persimmon shade under a knitted cardigan so a pop of colour peeks out from the neck and sleeves. It’s perfect for spring and works with so many outfits.
