#LIVEINIT SERIES - CREATE IN IT WITH TAHIRA

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND 'BEAUTY BY TAHIRA'

I have been a MUA for over 20 years with a personal penchant for sustainability and natural beauty. I created the Beauty by Tahira blog/ platform actually to be a bit lazy and answer common questions and share my beauty expertise and recommendations all in one place.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE ANYONE WANTING TO GET INTO THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY?

Practice and Persevere. This industry is so wide and multi-faceted its easy to look at Instagram and feel big feelings of overwhelm or inspiration, but the job is more than it seems. You have to be your own business of one person. So get trained, learn well, practice and persevere… success is really an overnight occurrence.

HOW CAN WE BE MORE CONSCIOUS OF OUR BEAUTY AND MAKEUP CHOICES?

I think the key is buy what you need and use up what you have. That goes for everything in life. Don't buy more than you need, don't buy something because a celeb or anyone tells you. Look for the gaps in your beauty/ wardrobe/ home and fill those gaps. Research your item and hope it works well for you so you don't have to waste it. And if it doesn't work for you, see if you can give it away rather than throw it out.

ANY WORDS OF WISDOM ABOUT CONFIDENCE AND FEELING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF?

On confidence, its a parallel inside outside job. You can’t have one without the other. No amount of skincare or great outfits will fix the holes inside, but conversely, no amount of therapy or self help books can replace the ceremonial armour that a red lip or a great outfit can give.

TELL US US WHAT YOU LOVE ABOUT BEYOND NINE?

I LOVE THE LONGEVITY!!!! I wish you were around when I was pregnant. I love a boiler suit  and I could have just lived in them and had a few to live out after. I think the colour palettes are great and the fact that the items are clearly quality made and crafted. Basically I love all of it and can I live on your workshop floor?
